The Dawn of The End - 臥龍

The Dawn of The End - 臥龍

This is @ Wulong; Sichuan; China.

It is a coal fire plant. I am informed that the coals used for power generation in China shall be smoke & pollutants free.

However, when you looking at the atmosphere here, you can see the smokes; smog; heat & pollutions.

Coal have created many millionaires in China those poor provinces & cities. But Coal energy plants pollutants & containments would be the source to destroy China & the world.

Perhaps I am wrong the last I wrote about, my spiritual guru Kong Ming Zhuge Liang never foresee these about 200A.D..

In fact in his scripts, he did mentioned that the Fire is the cause of killing every lives of this world including China.

That is well explained why the bamboos are dying ; the Pandas are dying.

By the way, I snap this on the coach at 3,500m elevation, the road condition is bad.

This is great shot.

Romantic Dusk @ AhBaZhou

This is the beautiful dusk @ AhBaZhou, the original home town of Panda.

The road condition is no good, very bumpy. I snaped this shot on the coach. The pollutants; dusts; Smog & mists & fogs make up this beautiful scene.

My Late Guru Zhu Ker Liang would never imaging his hide out become such polluted today. Otherwise he would have written on his predictions.

N.B.

I am in the most critical danger in this trip, as I am traveling with my daughter & not escorted by the officials. Taking picture like these are consider sensitives issues, it underline many ill practices between local & foreign officials & businessmen.

My daughter have experiences & witnessed many narrow escape that I have to deal with the lower form of human beings.

You see exporting of manufacturing activities, exported the manufactured waste & pollutants to China as well.

China main issue on Global Worming Plus the Green & Sustainability mainly due to:

1. Rapid industrialization of 2nd wave industries to fulfill the demand of the developed & developing nations needs.

2. Increase jobs to cut down the poverty level, after moving into Market Economy. Which they need electric power to power the economy & provide jobs. Which they relies lots on coal fire power. That is the main cause you see the pink layer in the air.

3. According to the research I read, each human being manufactured about 50 Cubic tons of carbon P.A. Then when you compute the total carbon manufactured by 1.5Billions populations. Then you see the actual figure that human produce carbon in the air.

4. Rapid industrialization cut down lots of trees in China & also the Businessmen cut more trees to bring in to China to produce the goods & build factories or building materials etc...

So, as you read all my comments, China polluted the whole world is not because of China do it by itself, it is a highly connected world economy that make these pollutions in a circle & they are all involved.

Therefore, it is not right & no Point to just pointing to China.

The most important is how the Power & Political elites on this world to work together to act together to resolve these critical issues now before it is too late.

Beside China, India ( With 1Billions population & Coal fire power for the heavy industries) is another country that facing the same!!

I hope everyone can see these more clearly now.

Anyway, this is a great treasure shot.

It is like a Chinese reality painting.

Thanks for your visit, fave; comments.

Enjoy!!

How To Heal A Sick Office

From replacing synthetic materials to letting the sun shine in, cleaning up a toxic workplace is easier than you think

Ever since cubicles sprouted up in office buildings 40 years ago, inhabitants have been under assault. Chemicals in carpet glue, cleaning supplies, and printer cartridges can cause headaches, dizziness, lethargy, rashes, nausea, and respiratory irritation. This could be solved by pumping in lots of fresh air, but the windows in most modern office buildings are sealed shut. Then there's the space allocation: A typical office worker gets about 40 sq. ft.—less than a third as much as in the 1970s. Dozens of studies have documented the toll all this takes on body and mind. How are we ever going to blossom into globally networked, branded superstars while trapped in shrinking cubicle farms bathed in foul fumes?

The fix may be simpler than you think. Healing sick offices is generally a matter of replacing synthetic materials with natural alternatives, improving the flow of fresh air, and letting some natural light shine in. Healthy options—including clever techniques for pumping sunlight deep into a building's recesses—are proliferating. And while it's hard right now to know which microscopic evils may be lurking in your cubicle, the next decade will bring cheap consumer tests for airborne toxins and pathogens. Scientists are also working on newfangled materials to mix into coatings that can suck toxins out of the air.

But don't wait for these magic developments. Managers who start cleaning and brightening up their employees' workspaces right away can expect to be rewarded with lower costs, fewer incidents of illness and absenteeism, higher productivity, and the recruitment of better-qualified staff. A 2003 study of call centers found that workers with window views processed calls 6% to 12% faster, performed up to 25% better on mental acuity tests, and reported fewer health problems than their peers in conventionally lit spaces.

Businesses that do right by cubicle-dwellers may also find that they're doing good for the environment. That will bring benefits down the road. Letting in more natural light cuts a company's energy consumption, and that matters to earth-conscious job seekers. In a study by office goods supplier Corporate Express, 64% of workers—from the mail room to the executive suite—said their decision to work for a company is guided in part by its green practices.

Here are some of the things that sap health and morale in the workspace, and ways to make them better.

Stanwell Power station

This Coal fired Power Plant, are the main electric power resourceses for Power hungry China.

When the Developed Countries export the manufacturing base to China.

The Industries Waste such as these are also exported.

The Coal industry in Wales once was shut down in the 70's & 80's, but I believed that now China is buying Coal from Country like Wales; Australia..etc.

In my discussion with the authority concern, I am advocating alternative energy such as Solar; Wind & Geo Thermal or Bio-Waste for electric city generations.

However, it is difficult for them to accept the facts that that is best solution.

As for the balance of trade between provinces & also the balance of trade between countries internationally. For Economic reason & financial gain for both end & in private, trading of coal & fossil fuel have created many millionaires.

What can I do for now is just to express my opinion here for all to think about!!

Populations & Pollutions

The following report is adapted from Gail Orenstein.

In my opinion, I do agreed with Prof. John Guillebaud, In addition to that, the human wastes; plus the human manufactured wastes are added to the cause of green house effect.

The other issue that contributing to the Global warming are the Houses that built re 2nd war world till 1990. The technology have not been use to maintain a constant temperature, is use fossil fuel; coal energy to warm up or cool down the home or building.

Please read the following for more.....

HAVING large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanour in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags, says a report to be published today by a green think tank.

The paper by the Optimum Population Trust will say that if couples had two children instead of three they could cut their family's carbon dioxide output by the equivalent of 620 return flights a year between London and New York.

Full coverage: Climate change in-depth

John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT and emeritus professor of family planning at University College London, said: "The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights.

"The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child."

In his latest comments, the academic says that when couples are planning a family they should be encouraged to think about the environmental consequences.

"The decision to have children should be seen as a very big one and one that should take the environment into account," he added.

Professor Guillebaud says that, as a general guideline, couples should produce no more than two offspring.

The world's population is expected to increase by 2.5 billion to 9.2 billion by 2050. Almost all the growth will take place in developing countries.

The population of developed nations is expected to remain unchanged and would have declined but for migration.

The British fertility rate is 1.7. The EU average is 1.5. Despite this, Professor Guillebaud says rich countries should be the most concerned about family size as their children have higher per capita carbon dioxide emissions.

This issue is very critcal to our lives on earth.

One saying is due to the Sun particle radiation & the exposions on Sun.

Another is saying the Ionizing Layer the hole is getting bigger due to the carbon emission.

Now the following article further explan.....

One th9ing I don't understand is, how the Volcano eruption would help to slow the Ice Cape melting.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

IceCapMelting

Arctic ice cap melting 30 years ahead of forecast --- Tue May 1, 3:09 PM
By Deborah Zabarenko, Environment Correspondent
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Arctic ice cap is melting much faster than expected and is now about 30 years ahead of predictions made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a U.S. ice expert said on Tuesday.
This means the ocean at the top of the world could be free or nearly free of summer ice by 2020, three decades sooner than the global panel's gloomiest forecast of 2050.
No ice on the Arctic Ocean during summer would be a major spur to global warming, said Ted Scambos, a glaciologist at the National Snow and Ice Center in Colorado.
"Right now ... the Arctic helps keep the Earth cool," Scambos said in a telephone interview. "Without that Arctic ice, or with much less of it, the Earth will warm much faster."
That is because the ice reflects light and heat; when it is gone, the much darker land or sea will absorb more light and heat, making it more difficult for the planet to cool down, even in winter, he said.
Scambos and co-authors of the study, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, used satellite data and visual confirmation of Arctic ice to reach their conclusions, a far different picture than that obtained from computer models used by the scientists of the intergovernmental panel.
"The IPCC report was very careful, very thorough and cautious, so they erred on the side of what would certainly occur as opposed to what might occur," Scambos said in a telephone interview.
ICE-FREE SUMMER
The wide possibility of what might occur included a much later melt up north, or a much earlier one, Scambos said.
"It appears we're on pace about 30 years earlier than expected to reach a state where we don't have sea ice or at least not very much in late summer in the Arctic Ocean," he said.
He discounted the notion that the sharp warming trend in the Arctic might be due to natural climate cycles. "There aren't many periods in history that are this dramatic in terms of natural variability," Scambos said.
He said he had no doubt that this was caused in large part by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which he said was the only thing capable of changing Earth on such a large scale over so many latitudes.
Asked what could fix the problem -- the topic of a new report by the intergovernmental panel to be released on Friday in Bangkok -- Scambos said a large volcanic eruption might hold Arctic ice melting at bay for a few years.
But he saw a continued warm-up as inevitable in the coming decades.
"Long-term and for the next 50 years, I think even the new report will agree that we're in for quite a bit of warming," Scambos said.
"We just barely now, I think, have enough time and enough collective will to be able to get through this century in good shape, but it means we have to start acting now and in a big way."

Heart to Heart To The People!! That is what Lee Have been doing in the late 50's, 60's &0's & on my return from UK in the early 80's as well. But not the same now!!

U see the structure of HDB, URA & the private development. The structures are only good for those day where global warming is not an issues yet.

With the concret & the bricks structures & more populations, more flights, more ships more pollutants in the environment.

All the heat generated & the Carbon dioxides in the environment are traped!!. Then the multiplication theorem applied. More energy, more income for the power & energy providers.....

Quicker the way we destroy ourself.

The pollutants cause inborn defects & cancers.....therefore we are doom to shotten our life.

More plastic is means more petrol by products, more polltuions.

Well those in power in the various department are aware of it, but they would rather do something that the numbers is achieve than doing something which would show their bad performance resolutions.

That is the phenomenal everywhere.

Climate change skeptics say it's hard to get heard

This article say about the scientists saying are hard to be heard!!

My experience is many activies like me is also hard to get heard!!

For example, few years back I promoting the Energy saving home & building home not using wood sticks. I have talk to many planner of cities, counties but I am facing the same word "Sorry"!! "We know oue job best, We cannot forgo our retirement benefits"!!

Well, please read further below:-

The following article from Reuters,
Wed Apr 18, 2007 2:15PM EDT

By Jeff Mason

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - skeptics of the seriousness of global warming complained on Wednesday of not being heard by the public or policy makers while warning governments to take a second look at the scientific consensus on climate change.

Scientists who doubt the scope and cause of climate change have trouble getting funding and academic posts unless they conform to an "alarmist scenario," said Roger Helmer, a British member of the European Parliament, at a panel discussion on appropriate responses to rising global temperatures.

"If global warming is happening, we can then ask: is it accelerating and is it likely to be catastrophic?" he said. "Many people think not."

European Union leaders agreed in March to try to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least a fifth compared with 1990 levels by 2020 and as much as 30 percent if other industrialized and emerging countries joined in.

The EU pledge came shortly before the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which groups 2,500 scientists and is considered the world authority on the issue, said all regions of the planet would suffer from a sharp warming.

David Henderson, an economist at the Westminster Business School in London and former head of the Economics and Statistics Department at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the OECD, said governments had given the IPCC a monopoly on climate advice.

"The very idea of creating a single would-be authoritative fount of wisdom is itself dubious," he said, urging countries to seek a more balanced approach than the IPCC and to stop pursuing programs to urgently reduce carbon emissions.

"In this area of policy it's high time for governments to think again," he said.

Mahi Sideridou, climate policy director at environmental group Greenpeace, rejected criticism of the IPCC.

"Saying that the IPCC is not balanced is probably the most ridiculous claim that anybody can make," she said, stressing the group's reports were based on scientific consensus.

The IPCC findings are approved unanimously by more than 100 governments and will guide policy on issues such as extending the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol, the main U.N. plan for capping greenhouse gas emissions, beyond 2012.

Benny Peiser, a professor at Liverpool John Moores University, questioned the methods used by climate scientists. He said many were recognizing that using computer modeling to predict an "inherently unpredictable future" was illogical.

"Today's scientific consensus very often turns out to be tomorrow's redundant theory," he said. He said that scientific journals refused to take papers from scientists who doubted climate change.

Most scientists say climate change will cause seas to rise, glaciers to melt and storms to intensify, potentially leading to more natural disasters around the world.

Beautiful Scene That I Recalling My Late Mom's

As the cruiseship moving forward to the the upper part of the YangZi River, the weather become more uncertain to predict.

While enjoy the natural scene, I am recalling the memory what my late mom's told me about her trip with her youngest brother.

Now the clear water is not to be seen. When the completion of the Da Ba the greatest & biggest water dam of this world, The weather & the Nature is going to be affected a lots.

I remember , I used to have very nice "Si-Yi" fish from Shanghai area of the YangZi. That would not be possible anymore.

The white dolphines are only left say 50 from 2,000 40 years ago.

Not only that. If the Dam is done by the act of god, then Shanghai would be under the water, we in the west coast in America would be having earthquake & Tsunami, ........etc.

I feel sad not only because of the corruptions & the local pollutions.

The following is the news I found from Sierra Club email today!!
10 Ways to Go Green at Work

Office_1Greener homes are in the spotlight these days, but what about the other places where many of us spent huge chunks of our time--our offices? Some simple changes of habit can save energy and resources at work, and these small steps can be multiplied by persuading the powers-that-be at your workplace to adopt environmentally friendly (and often cost-effective) policies.

1. Be bright about light
Artificial lighting accounts for 44 percent of the electricity use in office buildings.

> Make it a habit to turn off the lights when you're leaving any room for 15 minutes or more and utilize natural light when you can.

> Make it a policy to buy Energy Star-rated light bulbs and fixtures, which use at least two-thirds less energy than regular lighting, and install timers or motion sensors that automatically shut off lights when they're not needed.

2. Maximize computer efficiency
Computers in the business sector unnecessarily waste $1 billion worth of electricity a year.

> Make it a habit to turn off your computer—and the power strip it's plugged into—when you leave for the day. Otherwise, you're still burning energy even if you're not burning the midnight oil. (Check with your IT department to make sure the computer doesn't need to be on to run backups or other maintenance.) During the day, setting your computer to go to sleep automatically during short breaks can cut energy use by 70 percent. Remember, screen savers don't save energy.

> Make it a policy to invest in energy-saving computers, monitors, and printers and make sure that old equipment is properly recycled. Look for a recycler that has pledged not to export hazardous e-waste and to follow other safety guidelines. Old computers that still work, and are less than five years old, can be donated to organizations that will refurbish them and find them new homes. (You may even get a tax deduction.)

3. Print smarter
The average U.S. office worker goes through 10,000 sheets of copy paper a year.

> Make it a habit to print on both sides or use the back side of old documents for faxes, scrap paper, or drafts. Avoid color printing and print in draft mode whenever feasible.

> Make it a policy to buy chlorine-free paper with a higher percentage of post-consumer recycled content. Also consider switching to a lighter stock of paper or alternatives made from bamboo, hemp, cotton, or kenaf. Recycle toner and ink cartridges and buy remanufactured ones. According to Office Depot, each remanufactured toner cartridge "keeps approximately 2.5 pounds of metal and plastic out of landfills...and conserves about a half gallon of oil."

4. Go paperless when possible

> Make it a habit to think before you print: could this be read or stored online instead? When you receive unwanted catalogs, newsletters, magazines, or junk mail, request to be removed from the mailing list before you recycle the item.

> Make it a policy to post employee manuals and similar materials online, rather than distribute print copies. They're easier to update that way too.

5. Ramp up your recycling

> Make it a habit to recycle everything your company collects. Just about any kind of paper you would encounter in an office, including fax paper, envelopes, and junk mail, can be recycled. So can your old cell phone, PDA, or pager.

> Make it a policy to place recycling bins in accessible, high-traffic areas and provide clear information about what can and can not be recycled.

6. Close the loop

> Make it a policy to purchase office supplies and furniture made from recycled materials.

7. Watch what (and how) you eat

> Make it a habit to bring your own mug and dishware for those meals you eat at the office.

> Make it a policy to provide reusable dishes, silverware, and glasses. Switch to Fair Trade and organic coffee and tea, and buy as much organic and local food as possible for parties and other events. Provide filtering drinking water to reduce bottled-water waste.

8. Rethink your travel

> Make it a habit to take the train, bus, or subway when feasible instead of a rental car when traveling on business. If you have to rent a car, some rental agencies now offer hybrids and other high-mileage vehicles.

> Make it a policy to invest in videoconferencing and other technological solutions that can reduce the amount of employee travel.

9. Reconsider your commute

> Make it a habit to carpool, bike, or take transit to work, and/or telecommute when possible. If you need to drive occasionally, consider joining a car-sharing service like Zipcar and Flexcar instead of owning your own wheels.

> Make it a policy to encourage telecommuting (a nice perk that's also good for the planet!) and make it easy for employees to take alternative modes of transportation by subsidizing commuter checks, offering bike parking, or organizing a carpool board.

10. Create a healthy office environment

> Make it a habit to use nontoxic cleaning products. Brighten up your cubicle with plants, which absorb indoor pollution.

> Make it a policy to buy furniture, carpeting, and paint that are free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and won't off-gas toxic chemicals.
